Located on the left bank of the river Tech, the walled city is divided in two by the torrent of Guillem which crosses it perpendicularly. The lower town is home to ancient manors, church, town house of the seventeenth and shops. The high city with its streets lined by narrow houses is dominated by the "royal castle", a medieval aspect. The medieval wall was rebuilt in the seventeenth century by Vauban's project.
